El Gouna is also known as the Venice of the Red Sea. A self-contained
town on the beautiful Red Sea coast, El Gouna offers an unrivaled lifestyle.
Built on 10 km of beach, the town of 10,000 residents spreads across islands
and lagoons. Boasting a superb infrastructure and excellent services,
the destination is a short flight from Europe. Spread across a myriad
of islands interlinked together by beautiful turquoise lagoons, El Gouna
offers a wide range of accommodation facilities, from comfortable guest
houses to luxurious beach-front resorts. El Gouna is easily accessible
by air, lying 22kms north of Hurghada International Airport – a short
flight away from Europe's capitals.

This is the shores of Egypt's eastern desert, south of the cave of the
founder of monasticism in Christianity, St. Antonius (251-356BC). The
monastery built below his cave is still in use. In the mountain desert
behind there are mines with history back to Pharaonic times while four
different Bedouin tribe families are still living in this desert. It is
here on these desert shores you will find El Gouna.
Location
Located 22 kilometers north of the Hurghada International Airport, El
Gouna is only a 4-hour flight from Europe’s major capitals. Several
major airline carriers operate weekly flights to Hurghada and El Gouna
receives over 100,000 visitors a year from Germany, Belgium, the UK, France,
Holland, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, and Poland.
Population
The town’s population includes over 10,000 permanent residents from
all over the world.
Climate
The hottest time of the year is July and August with air temperature of
over 30 degrees C. The coolest time is January with the temperature at
around 20 degrees C. Rainfall is negligible and it is invariably sunny
but breezes can be cool.

The El Gouna area is a place rich in historical sites and natural beauty.
Your hotel will be able to organise for you guided or non-guided visits
to some of these sights. Here is a selection of interesting excursions
from El Gouna. Tawila and Gubal Islands Two idyllic desert islands are
at only an hour cruising from El Gouna. A beautiful sailing boat takes
you on to an adventure you will never forget. Dazzling white sandy beaches
welcome you in a completely wild environment. Time for swimming and snorkelling
on the rich coral reefs around the islands, and lunch is nicely served
either on board or at the beach. Ideal also for kids.
Monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul
A two hours drive takes you back in history and to two of the most inspiring
and peaceful places of the Red Sea, the places where monasticism was born.
The monks at both monasteries will introduce you to an ancient fascinating
world.
Luxor
Many people choose to combine a relaxing holiday by the Red Sea with the
sights of Ancient Egypt and the era of the pharaohs. Excursions to Luxor
from El Gouna are available either by plane, departing from the small
domestic El Gouna airport, or by bus. The most popular excursion to Luxor
is on a full day basis, with an early morning departure, but you also
have the choice to spend a night in Luxor and see the awesome sights in
two days.
Kafr El Gouna
Or the downtown area, is the heart of El Gouna. A town center with plenty
going on both day & night. It is here that guests & residents come together.
The kafr is built in a traditional Egyptian style with inner courtyards,
winding alleys & rolling domes, all surrounded by turquoise lagoons.
The Kafr provides everything one would expect of a lively downtown area:
shopping arcades, bazaars, an art village, cafes, discotheques, a wide
selection of restaurant & bars, an internet café, ATM machines, public
phones, a post office, and an information center.
In El Gouna you will find a wide variety of activities to keep yourself
busy.
El Gouna is a diver's paradise with internationally certified
diving centers.
Windsurfing, kite surfing – first professional center
in Egypt, waterskiing, parasailing, snorkeling & many other water sport
activities are available. From teeing-off at El Gouna's 18-hole USPGA
Golf Course, to burning rubber on the go-karts circuit, the choices of
sports and activities are endless. Or maybe, you prefer to laze up and
soak up the sun's rays at one of our many beaches.
